25. THE LAW OF DISSOUNCE

This Law states that you are going to experience mental discomfort when you hold two conflicting beliefs, or when your actions don't agree with your beliefs. When your beliefs and actions are incompatible, you will attempt to reduce the resulting discomfort by changing either your actions or your beliefs. Instead of changing the behavior that conflict with ones beliefs, many will attempt to justify or rationalize the belief or action. The Law of Dissonance is also known as the Law of Self Dillusion.
